Are you ready for the future of AI chatbots? Google’s new generative AI chatbot Bard is due to launch soon, and the tech giant is asking its employees to help make sure it’s as accurate as possible. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at why accuracy is so important for Bard, the steps Google is taking to make sure it’s perfect, and why you should care.
Google’s new AI chatbot Bard is set to be one of the most powerful AI chatbots yet. Powered by Google’s LaMDA large language model, it promises to be able to respond to queries with unprecedented accuracy. But one misstep in its introductory video has left Google scrambling to make sure the chatbot is as accurate as possible before its launch.
That’s why Google Search vice president Prabhakar Raghavan has asked employees to manually update Bard when they spot an incorrect response during interactions. This follows on the heels of Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s message to the company urging them all to spend two to four hours a week engaging with and testing Bard.
The Google staff can act as authorities to spot errors and know a better response to add to the information in the databases Bard is pulling from. Raghavan’s email includes links to a guide for adjusting Bard and a do’s and don’ts page. The list is mostly common sense, with more than one encouraging, polite, neutral tone response. Several others highlight Google’s caution in allowing people to think of Bard as human or with genuine emotion.
“Bard learns best by example, so taking the time to rewrite a response thoughtfully will go a long way in helping us to improve the mode,” Raghavan wrote in the email.
The accuracy of AI chatbots is important for more than just Google’s reputation. As AI chatbots become more and more powerful, they will be used for more and more tasks. That’s why it’s so important that they are as accurate as possible. Google’s call for help from its employees is a sign that the tech giant is taking accuracy seriously.
So if you’re looking forward to the future of AI chatbots, keep an eye out for Bard. Google is doing everything it can to make sure the chatbot is as accurate as possible, and that’s something we can all be excited about.
